Teeth.
A poem.
Devoured, engulfed—
Pleading with all its might.
Nature defied, as it cries,
Bite after bite after bite.
Gorging relentlessly
Smiling contentedly
With the prize they won.
Appetite: rapacious
Consumption: voracious
Until the deed was near done.
Egads, a word!
Shrilly they heard,
from the unfortunate one.
Eyes wide, the voice decried;
In its final act:
five tiny words,
with five tiny syllables;
“I...
will eat...
you back.”
Pointed, hidden daggers,
Revealed from underneath.
What a sight to see!
A lesson for the dying:
Even when hunger strikes—
Always check the teeth.
