She's So Shy
A poem.
Lower your voice; hush, momma is sleeping.
Tip-toe around the glass,
Daddy was drinking.
There she is—
Is this your little girl?
She hasn’t said a word!
So still, so demure.
Yes, it is she.
She’s just shy, as you see.
Besides, what could be said
From such a tiny head?
Nothing, I foresee, but
Sweet tea and candy!
Ah, the dainty thing!
Well, anyway,
It’s her mainstay.
Some just don’t have much to say!
Alas, fret not;
she prefers it that way.
